About Spirituality of Rock

Rock songs are full of the same longing, anger and hope that shape our prayers — especially prayer born of restless hearts navigating a complicated world.

Shaped by a Catholic tradition that has long understood God is active in the world and speaks to us through human experience, Spirituality of Rock uses these songs as a lens — not as answers — for understanding our lived relationship with God.

Publishing Schedule

Spirituality of Rock is published in stand-alone series. Each series explores a single song over weekly installments followed by a pause as the next series takes shape.

Most writing here appears in these series. Occasionally, I may publish a brief reflection or follow-up when something connects to an earlier post or to the questions this project explores.

Because there are in-between pauses, subscribing is the easiest way to know when a new series begins. Subscribing is free; this project is offered without a paywall.

Who Is Christian Knoebel?

I write Spirituality of Rock to explore questions of faith that benefit from sustained reflection on music, the human experience and God.
